This is the third cover I did for Supergirl. In reality I drew this before the cover of 64. Drawn by me and coloured by Guy Major. So this one concludes my work on the book before the relaunch of the DC universe in September.

Here's a review for the book on CBR where it gets 4,5 stars. Not too shabby, huh?

I'm sure you're all aware of the DC relaunch happening this September with the 52 books starting from #1. I'm being part of this historic event and the new Superman family as the artist for the new Supergirl title. Here's the blurb from the official DC blog;

Supergirl's got the unpredicatable behaviour of a teenager, the same powers as Superman and none of the affection for the people of earth. Writers Michael Green and Mike Johnson (Smallville, SUPERMAN/BATMAN) will team up with artist Mahmud Asrar to give a new take on the teenager from Krypton in SUPERGIRL #1.

Shadowland: Power Man #4 Pencils

Some pencil samples from the last issue of the mini series. Although I'm not in love with the work I've done in this book, I sincerely enjoyed drawing each panel. Damn that, Fred Van Lente for making this so much fun for me.

Unfortunately I could only draw half of this issue. Besides that the inker on the project, Scott Hanna had to leave the book. It's a long story and probably doesn't mean much to the reader in the long run but in the business of producing monthly comic books there are many things that can go awry. In any case I think this issue turned out nicely.

Hope you enjoy seeing the pencils which you can compare to the final printed product.

New Books On The Shelves! December 2010

Out now on the shelves is Adventure Comics #521 which features another installment of The Atom by me and Jeff Lemire. As you may or may not happen to know DC has decided to drop the backup features in their books. As a result this is the last time The Atom will appear in Adventure Comics. Have no worries though as the story will be concluded in a book of it's own pretty soon. And it will be awesome! More news on that later.

Meanwhile is it the Holiday season or what? The next Dynamo 5 book will be out on the 22nd of this month. Dynamo 5 Christmas Special will be awesome. Features an alternate cover by Rob Guillory of Chew fame along with some nice surprises in it including my return to drawing interior pages. Well only a couple of pages but it is what I could contribute with the time I had. Be sure to check these out.

New Books On The Shelves! November 2010

This month you can find my work in Shadowland: Power Man #4 which was written by Fred Van Lente and co-drawn by Ray Anthony Height. This issue concludes the story with a bang. I've never been shy of saying that Power Man is one of the projects that I got most attached to. It's really clinged with me mostly due to Fred's great writing.
That said I have to say that this issue hit a bit of a bumpy road during it's creation. First inker Scott Hanna had to leave the book and then I got to draw only half of the issue. So as much as I'd have liked to keep the visuals of the issue consistent it was not to be. It' s unfortunate but the thing is I can safely say it's not really anybody's fault. Stuff like this can happen and there are few options left to you.
In any case the book turned out nicely with the addition of Rick Ketcham's inks and Ray's pages. So you're in good hands.

Meanwhile Adventure Comics #520 has been out for a while featuring a new installment of The Atom by Jeff Lemire and myself. The next issue will be on the shelves early next month. Meanwhile please enjoy the covers by Mike Perkins (with whom I share the same birthday) and Scott Clark.

Shadowland: Power Man #2 Pencils

Here are a bunch of pencils from the second issue of the mini series I did with the amazing Fred Van Lente. I like to share pencils of my work so that people that would be interested can see the beginning of the visual collaboration that eventually ends up as the finished comic book. Also by seeing the pencils I think the viewer can have a better understanding of the input the inker and the colourist bring to the table.

I do think of a lot of concepts and ideas when working on steampunk stuff like this but I think this is the last on this theme I'll do for a while. I will try to explore some other concepts instead. Looking Back @ NYCC & BICS 2010

New York Comic-Con

This year was probably the best time I had in all the three years I've been there. The weather was beautiful and the show was a big success. Got to meet and hang out with so many people cool people. The show was huge and unbelievably crowded this year so I barely had any time to do anything else than hang out on my table and draw. Nevertheless it was great seeing a lot of new and old friends. Of course I didn't get the chance to see everyone I'd like to see but you can't win them all I suppose.

Some of the highlights of the whole trip were getting to see the DC offices and meeting my editors, hanging out with Joe, Ivan and the whole Brazilian gang, hanging out with Guile and the French gang, meeting some awesome podcasters, enjoying the weather in the city and getting to eat and drink so many cool things.

The biggest thing that made the whole thing worth everything was all of you who came by to say hi. It really means a lot that you appreciate my work. Thank you!

Birmingham International Comics Show

First time I've been to the UK and what a blast I had. The convention was amazing thanks to all the people who came by to see me. I truly appreciate your appreciation. I've also made my first ever panel appearance at an international convention. Had the privilege to meet and hand out with amazing people like Dave Gibbons, Paul Cornell and many others. I was a bit tired and jet lagged after the New York trip but I hope I made everyone happy with some free sketches.

Had a wonderful time eating and drinking with many fellow creators and friends. I'm happy I've stayed as long as I did otherwise I'd be bloated eating the amazing food and drinking every night!

Seriously though, I have to say what made the whole thing better than I could ever imagine was James, Andy, Shane and Lucy! Thank you so much for everything guys.

So this wraps up my convention year and it seems like it's already time to start planning for next year. Hopefully I'll make it to more conventions this coming year. Looking forward to meeting you all again soon.

More quick experimentation with paper, materials, technique and style. Actually this is more of a return to some stuff I used to occasionally do years back.
As for subject matter, I feel like I can draw Wolverine as Weapon X all the time. However, I always feel intimidation when sharing this kind of stuff especially when I take another look at Barry Windsor Smith's masterpiece.

Shadowland: Power Man #3 from Marvel is out and (dare I say it) probably the best book out of the Shadowland event. Thanks to amazing writer Fred Van Lente. Cover art by Mike Perkins. Meanwhile The Atom continues his adventures in Adventure Comics #518. Cover art by Scott Clark. And Dynamo 5: Sins Of The Father #5 comes to a conclusion in the final issue of this story arc. Cover art by yours truly. Also features an amazing alternate cover by Paul Renaud. All these books have been out for a while so I hope you got them and more importantly enjoyed them.

NYCC Aftermath

The convention was amazing and a ton of fun. I had a great time meeting fans, fellow creators and friends. Needless to say it was exhausting. And here's the final commission I did for NYCC. Andromeda from the Legion Of Super Heroes. Happy about some parts, unhappy about others but in the end I had a lot of fun working on this.

Poison Ivy Commission

This commission for NYCC 2010 is amongst my favourites for sure. Although I can see the faults in it I am happy with the results. I had to throw in reds for her hair on this. Too bad the scan doesn't do justice to the original vibrancy of the colours.

Black Cat Commission II

And here's another sketch commission favouite, Black Cat. Yet again a NYCC pre-show piece. Even though Black Cat is a common subject, I always enjoy drawing her. Probably because she is one of the sexiest characters around in the Marvel universe. This one was fun and challenging, yet easy somehow. It might not show outright but I did try out a few things on this one technically too.

Here's yet another commission for NYCC 2010. This one was another commission with specificity from the client. So this one is one of those pieces where I didn't give much thought except for the execution. Although I've drawn different iterations of Robin and Batgirl this is the first time I've drawn Damian and Stephanie.

Darkness Commission

Another pre-show commission for NYCC 2010. This is the first time I've drawn The Darkness. I've read the book for a bit and enjoyed the art a lot but I've never drawn Jackie Estecado before. Most Top Cow characters are in a way out of my comfort zone. So this in turn was a bit intimidating at first as anything that you have to do for the first time. As unexpected as it was I had a lot of fun working on this one and really enjoyed the result.

Alan Scott Commission II

Another Alan Scott piece for a good man, Leroy DeDominicis. I like this one better than the first one I did even though it's a more generic composition. Maybe the simpleness is what I like about it. At least this time around I got the collar and the ring right too. Also you might have noticed that I've thrown in Hourman and Dr. Mid Nite in there too.

Enchantress Commission

Here's another commission I did for NYCC. This is actually the fist one I drew out of the bunch of sketches I did. I feel every time I use the Copics as a medium I learn a bit more. Well, that's part of creating art anyways. You have to learn something new and improve at every chance you get.

Here are a group of pages from the first issue of the mini series. I like to post pencils as they show my participation and what I put into the book. This way the viewer can have a better idea of how the original work looks like before inks or colours.

Working on this book and being a part of the creation of the new Power Man, Victor Alvarez, has been exceptionally fun for me. I'm having a huge blast drawing this book. Hopefully I'll get the chance to work on the character again in the near future.

This is a pinup I did for the Image Comics San Diego Comic-Con 2010 Yearbook. The book features images from the upcoming Image Comics releases for this year. Hence this image is a composition of Dynamo 5: Sins Of The Father.

This was done in water colours and a bit of ink. Had a though time with this one and the deadlines didn't help either. Slight colour adjustment with PS.

A real quick sketch for warm up. Shadow Lass was one of the first characters that ever left a visual impression on me as a kid. This is probably the first time I've ever drawn her though. In part inspired by my buddy Yildiray Cinar's work on the new Legion book.

Hey all,

I know I haven't been updating much as I've been very very busy as of late. I don't know. Maybe that is a good thing for everyone. Anyhow, here's what I've been doing and what I will be doing;

I'm doing The Atom with the awesome Jeff Lemire for DC Comics. The book will be launching with the Brightest Day: The Atom one-shot and will later continue in Adventure Comics as a co-feature. Here's more info on that;

Dynamo 5 Vol. IV - Change Or Die & Siege: Young Avengers

Dynamo 5 Vol. IV - Change Or Die is finally out and on the shelves of your favourite retailer. If it's not then go ask them why not?

Meanwhile a bit of a delayed report but Siege: Young Avengers is also out. In fact it has been out for a few weeks now. Go and get it. It's got a great story by Sean McKeever and was drawn by me.

Haven't been updating much but C2E2 and Chicago was great and had the chance to meet a whole lot of great people. Thanks to all who dropped by. Hope to see you again in NYCC later... or the other European shows I will be attending.

As for news, it's been announced just before C2E2 but just in case you're reading it here first, I'll be drawing The Atom for DC with the awesome Jeff Lemire writing and John Dell inking the book. It will definitely be awesome.

I'm also waiting to announce another exciting project I'll be doing with Marvel.

This here's the cover to this year's sketchbook. Not an expert with graphic design but I had a blast working on the layout of this one. Hope you guys will enjoy it too.

The sketchbook is 5.5" x 8.5" and 32 pages with a colour cover and 8 colour pages inside. Even threw in a space to sketch inside the booklet. So it's a relative improvement on all fronts compared to last year's sketchbook.

The book will have a limited print run due to logistics.

C2E2 STUFF

I'll be at the C2E2 Artist Alley all weekend April 16th-18th. You can find me at table F11 right next to my bud Yildiray Cinar and Khoi Pham. I'll of course be signing and welcoming anyone who drops by to say hi.

I will have a brand new sketchbook with me this year. This year it's thicker and has a bunch of colour pages inside too. And I didn't forget to add a spot inside for sketches this time.

I will be doing sketch commissions at the show as well. $100 For full figure sketches and $50 for bust sketches.

Rich DeDominicis will be at the show with original art by me and other artists he represents as well. I'll also be bringing along some artwork with me so if you're interested in a specific piece let me know and I'll bring it along.

PRE-SHOW COMMISSIONS

I will be doing a few commissions before the show to be picked up at the show. These will be more elaborate b&w marker sketches on 9"x12" paper like the samples below. Darth Vader Special TPB Cover

This is the cover to the Darth Vader TPB that collects select stories about the character. This is a unique collection that will be published for the first time in Turkey.

Been waiting to share this for a while and finally here it is. Drawn, inked and coloured by yours truly. Much thanks to Nei Ruffino for help and suggestions on the colours for this.

In order to celebrate Darth Vader and the release of the book Dave Prowse will be make and appearance in Turkey for signings which I'll also be attending with my fellow artist friends.

Nova #35 is already out for a few days. So go and grab it.

This was a fun couple of 2 issues I've worked on. Always great to work with DnA. I got to draw many cool Marvel characters. Which makes me think - I think I've drawn quite a bit of Marvel characters in the last few books I've done for Marvel.

Next up is Siege Young Avengers, a one-shot book coming out soon. It was written by Sean McKeever with inks by Scott Hanna and Victor Olabaza. Colours by Matt Milla.

Had to do another one. Checked out some really cool people's steampunk costume designs for this so the outfit has many inspirations. However I'm not particularly fond of how the design turned out for this one compared to the earlier ones. Will probably do more stuff on the subject later.

After finishing up my most recent assignment I thought it'd be good to do something for fun before jumping back on to some other assignments. So I came up with this image of Adam Warren's Empowered. I've read the first two books and had a blast.

Also it has been a slight challenge to render the character in a more realistic fashion. So this was fun. Was intending to find something funny for her to say but couldn't come up with something that wouldn't ruin the piece so I left it alone.

Deli Gucuk II

Pinup piece for the second Deli Gucuk graphic Novel that will be published in Turkey soon.

For this one I intended to do something more story driven. I thought instead of just showing the character in a cool pose or something I'd draw a piece which hints that there is something going on that the viewer might be curious about.

When I worked on this I was very much under the spell of Iain McCaig's wprk. I noticed later that the fairy figure in the center turned out a lot like one of his sketches. This was purely a subconscious thing so I'd like to dedicate this piece with apologies to him.

Devianart'taki eskiztr grubunun düzenlediği "Hediyelik Eskiz" etkinliği için yaptığım hızlı bir eskiz. Etkinlik kapsamında her üye rastgele bir başkası için bir eskiz talebinde bulunuyor. Böylece herkes birisi için bir yılbaşı hediyesi eskiz çizmiş oluyor.

Bana komozeck tarafından gelen eskiz konusu ise resimde görüldüğü gibi "canlı performansta Zombie Beatles". Benim verdiğim konuyu ise telumaithor resimleyecek. Eskizi görünce buraya ekleyeceğim.

This is a fast sketch done as a gift for komozeck as part of the "Gift Sketch" activity held by the Turkish Deviantart group eskiztr. The activity was held to encourage the artists in the group to draw sketches as gifts for each other randomly.

The concept I got was "Zombie Beatles at a live concert". I gave my sketch idea to someone else which I'll post here once I see it.

Didn't have much time to work on this and I suck at likenesses but I guess the doodle serves it's purpose to some degree.

The first issue of the story arc was penciled by yours truly with inks by Rebecca Buchman and coloured by Jay David Ramos.
